Publication Ethics

Maintaining high standards of publication ethics is essential to ensuring the quality, reliability, and credibility of scholarly research. BRICS Journal of Applied Mathematics and Engineering Sciences (BJAMES) is committed to upholding ethical research practices, responsible publication, transparency, and integrity throughout the editorial and publishing process.

The journal follows the Core Practices and ethical guidelines of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) and expects authors, editors, reviewers, and other stakeholders involved in the publication process to adhere to the principles of honesty, integrity, fairness, confidentiality, transparency, and accountability. Editorial decisions are based solely on the quality, originality, academic merit, relevance, and scientific contribution of submitted manuscripts and are made without discrimination.

The journal seeks to protect the integrity of the scholarly record by ensuring that manuscripts undergo an impartial and consistent editorial process. Any concerns or allegations relating to research or publication ethics are handled promptly, fairly, and in accordance with established ethical standards.

Research and Publication Misconduct

BJAMES maintains a zero-tolerance approach to research and publication misconduct. Allegations of unethical conduct will be assessed and investigated in accordance with applicable editorial procedures and COPE recommendations.

Research and publication misconduct may include, but is not limited to:

  • Plagiarism and self-plagiarism
  • Fabrication or falsification of research data
  • Duplicate or redundant publication
  • Manipulation or inappropriate use of citations
  • Unauthorized or misleading image manipulation
  • Failure to disclose relevant conflicts of interest
  • Unethical research involving human participants or animals
  • Manipulation of the peer-review process
  • Inappropriate or disputed authorship
  • Misrepresentation of research results or findings

When misconduct is confirmed, the journal may take appropriate action depending on the nature and severity of the case. Such actions may include rejection of the manuscript, correction of the published record, publication of an Expression of Concern, or retraction of an article. Where appropriate, the journal may also communicate the matter to the relevant author’s institution, research organization, or funding body.

Authorship Changes

Requests relating to changes in authorship may arise before or after publication and may include:

  • Addition or removal of an author
  • Change in the order of authors
  • Change of the corresponding author
  • Any combination of the above changes before or after publication

Policy for Changes in Authorship

Any request to add, remove, reorder authors, or change the corresponding author must be submitted formally to the Editorial Office with a clear explanation and justification for the proposed change.

The journal requires written agreement from all existing authors, as well as from any author being added or removed, before an authorship change can be considered. The Editorial Office may request additional documentation to verify the legitimacy of the proposed amendment and ensure compliance with the journal's authorship and publication ethics requirements.

Where all relevant authors provide consent and the request is considered justified, the Editorial Office may approve the change.

If there is disagreement among the authors regarding the proposed authorship modification, the editorial process may be placed on hold until the dispute is appropriately resolved. For articles that have already been published, the journal may refer the matter to the relevant institutional authorities for investigation where necessary.

Any approved change in authorship after publication will be documented through an appropriate correction to the published article, thereby maintaining the accuracy and integrity of the scholarly record.

All authorship-related requests are assessed in accordance with the journal's editorial policies and the ethical standards recommended by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) .
